A Little About Our Farm

Dragon Hill Farm has been a small, family run, private boarding barn since 2001. The farm is 5 gently sloping acres at the base of Nanaimo's famously beautiful Mt.Benson. There are several different wild and wonderful visitors to Dragon Hill Farm including a mother deer and her twin fawns, a majestic pair of bald eagles, and several other wild bird species. We feel we are exceptionally lucky to be graced with such beauty every day and hope that we will be able to help preserve this natural wonder at our farm.

We have grown somewhat over the years and have been inspired to merge into a professionally run riding stable which offers several sought-after equine services to local riders and horse enthusiasts. Our goal is to grow, expand, and improve to accomodate the increasing demand for safe & professional equestrian facilities in the Nanaimo area, meanwhile maintaining the friendly, welcoming atmosphere of a family run facility. We are always open to suggestions and love hearing feedback from clients and visitors. Please feel welcome to call about making a visit to our farm!

We're Going Green! 

One very exciting initiative that we are starting is working toward becoming a "green barn". With all of the new information on global warming and climate change, we are making efforts to do our part in reducing our "carbon footprint."  For more information or to calculate your own personal carbon footprint, visit the Carbon Footprint website. Some ways we have starting to become a "green barn" are:

• recycling all baling twine from hay
  
• recycling all paper grain bags
• collecting bottles and cans for return
• driving diesel powered or fuel efficient vehicles such as VWs
  
• cultivating a variety of plants, including several fruit trees
• Encouraging the support of local businesses
